Bassnectar, Tiesto Headline Jamaica’s Inaugural Paradise Lost EDM Fest
Rolling Stone – Much of EDM’s peaks and drops is rooted in the dub music of Jamaica, and next March, those two genres will collide at the inaugural Paradise Lost Festival, which is being billed as the Caribbean’s first EDM fest. Bassnectar and Tiësto will headline the festivities at Grizzly’s Plantation Cove in St. Ann, Jamaica, with dub legend King Jammy, Zion I, AlunaGeorge, Felix Jaehn and Big Gigantic among the first wave of performers announced for the March 10-12 fest.
St. Ann plays a major role in the history of reggae music: Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Shabba Ranks and other musicians were born in the parish, and it’s also where Lee “Scratch” Perry first discovered the Wailers. During Paradise Lost, organizers will offer its attendees excursions to tour the parish, including visits to Marley’s birthplace and family tomb. Since the fest arrives on a popular Spring Break weekend, it will also include activities like beachfront camping and bonfires, boat rides, Jet Ski rentals, a fireworks display, Parasailing, Banana Boat Rides and more.
On the music side, Casablanca Records will curate the festival’s Beachfront stage, with Caroline D’Amore, Gazzo and Prince Fox scheduled to perform. Lance Herbstrong, Natalli Rize, Audien and other artists yet to be announced will play the fest.
The fest aims to bring 75,000 visitors to the three-day fest, which would inject millions of dollars in tourism-driven revenues for the region. Early bird tickets for the festival go on sale November 17th at 10 a.m. EST at the festival’s official site, with a general on-sale scheduled for November 23rd.
